CORN ROLLS

   I liked this Corn Rolls Recipe when I saw in the cookbook I borrowed from library. The recipe needed ‘cream style corn’,which I was hearing for the first time. Then bought that too and tried immediately … Great snack for kids in the evening.
Corn Rolls Recipe

Ingredients

Bread slices 4
Cream style corn 3/4 cup
Onion 1/2, chopped
Garlic 1, chopped
Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
Tomato sauce 1 tsp
Salt As needed
Corn flour 2 tblsp
Sesame seeds 1 tsp
Oil 1 tblsp

 

CORN-BREAD-ROLL-RECIPE

Method:

  1. To Prepare the stuffing,Heat a pan with oil and add the chopped garlic. Fry for a minute and add the chopped onions and fry till transparent.Add the cream style corn and mix well.

  2. Add pepper powder and sauce and fry till you get a thick stuffing.

  3. Trim the edges of the bread and roll with a rolling pin to make thin squares.

  4. Prepare a batter with corn flour with 1/4 cup of water.Spoon 2 tsp of the stuffing in the bread .

  5. Apply the corn flour batter in the sides of the bread.Roll the bread carefully.Seal the sides.

  6. Give a quick dip in the corn flour batter and sprinkle or roll over the sesame seeds.

  7. You can deep fry or shallow fry in a pan. Make sure you fry all the sides if you are shallow frying. Fry until crisp.

Serve hot with tomato sauce.
Corn Rolls Recipe
Notes:
  • You can also bake the rolls,pre heat the oven to 190oC and bake until you get a golden crust.
  • You can get cream style corn in tins or boxes. I got from Fairprice where we find canned foods.

similar to my paneer rolls but the filling is so different! never heard of cream style corn myself :)

Never heard of cream style corn. The rolls look more like the bread rolls...except for the stuffing. Pretty clicks and perfect rolls for tea time

Raks regarding your comment,Yes they puff up like rotis if it is rolled properly..these are extremely soft,delicate and tasty when compared to regular rotis.

Hi Raji... I made this yesterday for tea & everybody in my home liked it a lot... u know one thing i dint have cream style corn but had 3 corn ears with which i first made cream style corn & then followed your procedure... my hubby appreciated me for having made such a wonderful snack... many thanks to you... keep posting such recipes.... :-)

Harsha, try using fresh bread, moist it with some water. hope it helps

Hi....i need some help with ur recipe corn rolls... my bread starts to crumble when i roll it... i do remember ur tip to moist it...can u please elaborate the steps...like do i have sprinkle some water/dip it in water and remove excess water by gently squeezing it out...i have tried both...does not seem to work...i have tried various bread from shelf here...Need some help and tips..Thank you

Hi Harsha, I dint dip in water and roll, just rolled as such. If your bread is crumbly try first flattening roughly with your hands or try pressing in between any two flat plates. I think milk bread will be apt for this as it is very soft. May be your bread is too dry that's y.
